Kairos Moments

Kairos is a Greek word which means the right or opportune moment. It is distinguished from chronos which is sequential time and for those living a spiritual life it is the the fullness of time in which God can speak to the human heart. Each moment is a kairos moment if we have ears to hear. As it says in the prophet Isaiah ‘Behold I am revealing new things to you, things never heard before’

Ordinary

In the Christian calendar the time after Pentecost is called ordinary time. But what does ordinary mean?  For those with eyes to see nothing is ordinary.  As Gerard Manley Hopkins says ‘ the world is charged with the grandeur of God’.  This grandeur is to be seen in the  beauty of creation but is also present in the mundane.  Wherever people are living and loving and struggling to live a fully human life, there is God. Someone once said that Christians should be Kingdom Spotters.  When one begins to do this the Kingdom appears in the most unexpected places.  The Spirit blows where She wills and the fruits of the Spirit are to be seen all around.

In this ordinary time, become a Kingdom Spotter

Take time to look for the signs of the Spirit

Rejoice in God’s presence in the ordinary

Be aware of the presence and power of God in every day life
